Rumor has it that this creek has been run only once. It drops like a stone into
Pequannock from a pair of ponds up on a hill. You can see it through
the trees from Rt 287, just south of the Rt. 23 exit. The gradient
is about 800 fpm, but the run is only about 1/2 a mile long. It's
a hike in creek with a parking lot at the bottom. But at least that
way you save a little time scouting. It's all on public land.

There is no online gauge for this
run |
There
isn't any gauge for this run. Basically, if everything is way
too high and going up, and it's still raining very
hard, this is probably running. Especially if there's snow on the ground. |

Just
hike up the hill until you're tired, then put on. |

Make
sure you take out in the pool after the last big drop.
Scout
before you put on!.
After this the creek
drops into a steep, bony, class V rapid which goes through a fence
and then into a small tunnel under Rt. 287 (probably at least 100
yds long) |
This may be the steepest thing that's been run so far in NJ |
